Welcome to the Giant Clam Capital of the Philippines, DOT Secretary Berna Romulo-Puyat!!!
The Local Government Unit of Bolinao led by Hon. Mayor Alfonso F. Celeste, M.D. expressed its grateful appreciation to the Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Berna Romulo-Puyat for her visit in our town on June 21 and 22, 2021. The Secretary's visit is to benchmark and inspect the readiness of some open destinations inline with the DOT's advocacy to restart tourism activities slowly and safely. Sec.Puyat was enjoined by Regional Director Joseph Francisco Ortega, Cong. Christopher de Venecia of 4th District, Celebrity Chef JP Anglo, Maria Luisa A. Elduayan - PTCAO, Hon. Mayor Alfonso F. Celeste,M.D., Hon. Richard Celeste, BBTOA President - Atty. Gener Endona and other VIP guests.
Her First stop was at Sungayan Grill, where the Secretary personally witnessed how "Binungey" or Bamboo Cake is made thru a cooking demo, Buri-Weaving and presentation of Bolinao Products such as Pinaleg(Danggit), Bagoong Padas and other locally handcrafted products. Hilot Hilom wellness a traditional massage was also presented to the Secretary and the team. Aside from her visit was the awarding of Camp Bayanihan to TODA, Binungey Vendors Association, Accommodation Establishment (3L) and turning over of disinfectant sprayers to Bolinao Association of Tour Guides.
The Secretary also had the chance to experience river cruising along the cleanest and greenest river in the region, The Balingasay River.
Stakeholders dinner was held at Puerto Del Sol where the tourism stakeholders had a simple feast. The event also highlighted with cultural entertainment, Bolinao AVP Presentation, Welcome messages from Hon. Alfonso F. Celeste, M.D., Hon. Arnold "Noli" Celeste - Representative 1st District of Pangasinan and an inspirational message from DOT Sec. Berna Romulo-Puyat.
